Shirley library is a vibrant, well-used community library within Parkgate Shopping Centre.

Along with a selection of books and other resources available for loan, there is a modern sound-proofed ICT suite. Customers can access Microsoft Office and the internet, and printing and photocopying can be done on request..

Opening hours

  • Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 9.30am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 5.00pm
  • Wednesday from 10.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 5.00pm
  • Thursday from 9.30am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 7.00pm
  • Saturday from 9.30am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 5.00pm

Please note, access to library computers ends 15 minutes before the library closes, at lunchtime and at the end of the day.

Travelling to the library

The library is in Shirley off the main A34 Stratford Road, within the Parkgate Shopping Centre.

The car park underneath Asda is free for a maximum 3 hours' stay (more than 3 hours if parking after 3pm). Longer stays can be made in the pay and display car park behind Iceland.

Bus routes: 4A, 5, 6, 49, 76 - the nearest stop is Stanway Road.

The nearest railway station is Shirley, on Haslucks Green Road.

Health Monitor

Check your blood pressure and your weight at the library. Free to use. Easy to use. You can get a print out of your details to take away. Monitors are available at The Core, Chelmsley Wood Library, Hobs Moat Library, and Shirley Library. There is lots of health information in the library collection or ask about the free NHS health checks for people 40 – 75 years of age
