Chelmsley Wood Reading Den is a space that has been created with the particular needs of fostered and adopted children and young people in mind. It provides free access to specialist books, stories and resources to help parents, carers and children think and talk about their thoughts, feelings and experiences.
The Den is located in Chelmsley Wood Library, and is a partnership between Solihull Libraries, Arts and Information Service and Solar*, the emotional wellbeing and mental health service for children and young people in Solihull.
Research shows that reading can help children make connections, learn about communication and building relationships, learn independently, understand differences and start conversations.
Books can be found and reserved online, while the Den will also offer DVDs encouraging conversations and reflection and CDs promoting relaxation and sleep. For a full list of items you can borrow read our resources catalogue.
