Admission arrangements

Admission arrangements are used to decide how places are offered.

Every year the admission arrangements for schools and academies are reviewed and determined. There must be a consultation if any significant changes are being proposed or if there has not been a consultation for seven years.

The schools below are carrying out a consultation as they have not consulted for seven years:

The following schools are also carrying out a consultation as they wish to make changes to their admission arrangements:

The consultation period is from 04 November to 16 December. Follow the link on the school name to see their proposed admission arrangements or go to the school’s website. If you have any comments or views regarding the admission arrangements, you should send them to the relevant school or academy by 16 December.

WMG Solihull are carrying out their own consultation, the dates and response information is on the school website

Community and voluntary controlled schools

We determine the admission arrangements for community and voluntary controlled schools. If there are more applications for a school than there are places available the places are offered in order, according to the oversubscription criteria which you can find in the admission arrangements.

We have qualifying schemes to process the admission of children into the schools in our area:

Voluntary-aided schools and academies

The admission arrangements for voluntary-aided (church) schools and academies are determined by their governing body.

When changes are proposed to admission arrangements, all admission authorities must consult on the admission arrangements.

During the consultation period you have the opportunity to respond in favour of; or object to; the changes to the admission arrangements proposed by the admission authority.

The details on how to respond will form part of the consultation document. After the consultation period, the admissions authority will consider the responses and determine their arrangements.

Following the publication of the determined arrangements, objector’s can refer the determined arrangements to the Office of School’s Adjudicator for review.

Objections must be made before 15 May and will be considered by the adjudicator if they’re made on time. Admission arrangements can be referred to the adjudicator at other times, however the adjudicator has the discretion on whether or not to consider the case if it is referred after 15 May.

Further information regarding the role of the adjudicator and how to raise an objection can be found at school admissions arrangements - GOV.UK
