APDR - Plan and do

  • Strategies for all staff (including supply) to include adjustments to ensure teaching is accessible and inclusive for hearing impaired students.
  • Named adults in school that can support with equipment management e.g. changing batteries
  • All staff working with hearing impaired pupils liaise with Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QTOD) for advice/training/support with specialist equipment
  • Management Plan/Pupil Profile from Solihull Specialist Inclusion Support Service (SISS) to be considered in all planning and preparations
  • Intervention Plans in place
  • Ensure access arrangements are in place for all assessments
  • Access to small intervention groups as appropriate for areas of difficulty
  • Pre-teaching of subject based concepts and new vocabulary
  • Language programme implemented with advice from Qualified Teacher of the Deaf (QTOD) and Speech and Language Therapist
  • Social skills group to support communication and self esteem
