Solihull residents who smoke are invited to ‘swap to stop’ to help them quit.
The Swap to Stop programme aims to cut smoking rates by providing free vape kits for adult smokers, alongside behavioural support sessions.
The scheme aims to provide almost 1 in 5 smokers across England with a free four-week vape starter kit.
Anyone who smokes and lives in a Solihull postcode or is registered with a Solihull GP can take part.
Cllr Tony Dicicco, Solihull Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health, said: “If anyone has been thinking of quitting, I’d really encourage them to ‘swap to stop’.
“To take part, you just need to call Solihull Connect on 0121 704 6000 and speak to a trained advisor, who will register you and arrange for the four-week kit to be sent out in the post.
“The public health evidence on vaping is clear – it poses a fraction of the risks of smoking, and is easier to quit than cigarettes.
“The sessions delivered by our Stop Smoking providers will also go a long way to helping people who take part give up smoking for good.”
For anyone who vapes, they should be sourced from legal providers to ensure they are safe to use.
