Nature of work
Highways Services provide a wide range of services to maintain and improve the public highways in the Borough of Solihull.
Working with our contract partner Balfour Beatty our services keep our roads and footways maintained. This includes annual programmes of resurfacing of footways and carriageways. Regular inspections of 343 highway structures, the cleansing of 35,000 gullies.
Our in house Operational Services Division (OSD) provide streetlighting and drainage services.
The Highways Services Team also deliver over £6m of highway improvements each year which can include maintenance of bridges, junction improvements, changes to Traffic Regulation Orders (waiting restrictions), maintenance of 141 sets of traffic signals and co-ordinate 3200 sets of road works a year to minimise inconvenience to road users.
