Nature of work
We act as the corporate lead on Information Governance matters; in the interpretation and application of relevant legislation, case law and related guidance. Additionally, we lead in the development of policy and provision of support, advice and training to staff, elected members and other relevant parties in this area. We also process requests for access to information made under Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation.
Why we need your information
In order to process requests for access to personal data we need identification from yourself and sufficient personal detail to identify the information sought.
For requests made under the Freedom of Information Act we need a name and contact address in for the request to be deemed to be valid as required under Section 1(1) of the Act.

Where relevant we process a variety of information relating to individuals including:
- Personal details
- Contact details
- Family details
- Lifestyle or social circumstances
- Financial details
- Employment and education details
- Student and pupil records
- Case file information
- Birth and deaths details
We may also process what is referred to as ‘special categories’ of information that may include details revealing a person’s:
- racial or ethnic origin
- political opinions
- religious or philosophical beliefs
- trade union membership
- genetic data
- biometric data
- health
- sex life or sexual orientation
- disability
- criminal record

We process information about:
- Service Users
- Employees
- Agency employees
Who information may be shared with
Where necessary or required we share information with:
- Police
- NHS
- Solicitors
How long we will keep your information
As long as required by the legislation or a maximum of six years.
