The Council consulted on a new Local Area Plan for the High Speed 2 Interchange station and adjoining area, from 7th November 2014 until 16th January 2015. The Local Area Plan focused on the triangle of land to the east of the NEC and bounded by the M42, A45 and A452/A446, where the proposed HS2 Interchange station would be located.
The Local Area Plan was launched to play a key part in enabling the delivery of the UK Central Masterplan, especially the growth associated with the Hub area around the Airport, NEC, Birmingham Business Park and the site of the proposed HS2 Interchange.
Following consideration of the Local Area Plan consultation responses and the successful High Court challenge to the quash the housing numbers in the adopted Local Plan, the Council resolved at Full Cabinet on the 16 July 2015 to undertake a wider Local Plan Review.
