Local authorities are facing unprecedented financial challenges, having to balance ever decreasing resources with increasing demand for services.
To help the Council meet these challenges, the Audit Committee has an important role to play in ensuring that our governance, financial procedures and risk management processes are sound.
We are looking to appoint an independent member for the Audit Committee to work with and support our elected members of the Committee. You will be expected to attend up to six afternoon meetings and/or training sessions in a year and be available to liaise with senior council officers on an ad-hoc basis.
You will need to be totally independent of the Council and preferably live or work in the borough of Solihull.
You cannot be an independent member if you are, or have been in the last five years:
- a Councillor
- an employee of the Council
- closely associated with anyone who has been a Councillor or employee of the Council
Whilst this is a voluntary role, the Council will cover all travel and subsistence expenses incurred through time spent on the Committee.
Apply
The closing date for applications is Wednesday 30 April 2025.
