The cabinet meet collectively in public on a monthly basis, to make decisions in line with the council's overall policies and budget. Individual cabinet members also hold meetings on average once a month when they make decisions with regards to their specific portfolio.
How the cabinet is appointed
The cabinet is made up of the Leader of the Council and a cabinet of 8 other members appointed by the leader. Cabinet members are appointed by the Leader of the Council and each has a specific area of responsibility.

Meetings and decisions
Decisions to be taken at cabinet meetings are set out in the Council's Forward Plan at least 28 days before the decision is to be made.
These meetings will be open for the public to attend except where personal or confidential matters are being discussed.
