Councillor Ian Courts, Leader of Solihull Council said: “I’m so pleased that the Queen’s Baton Relay will be able to be seen by so many of our people in so many of our communities. The route around Solihull is the longest in the West Midlands which will mean that the Baton covers nearly every corner of the borough. The Queen’s Baton Relay will pass through beautiful open countryside and picturesque villages, through bustling and diverse towns, and past businesses both large and small that demonstrate the very best of the industrial strength and entrepreneurial spirit of which we are so proud here in Solihull.”
Councillor Karen Grinsell, Deputy Leader and the portfolio holder responsible for the Commonwealth Games said:
“The visit of the Queen’s Baton Relay to the borough will be a wonderful opportunity for the people of Solihull to be at the heart of a truly global event. We’re very proud of the part our borough is playing in the Commonwealth Games this summer, with the NEC being one of the key venues we’re looking forward to welcoming visitors from all over the Commonwealth to Solihull. Having the Queen’s Baton Relay here so close to the start of the games themselves is going to be really exciting for the people and businesses of Solihull”
