Get ready for later life with help from Solihull Council

Released:

The Council is running two free marketplace events on 26 and 28 September to help people plan and prepare for later life.

The drop in events at Oliver Bird Hall and Three Trees Community Centre will have around 20 information stalls where people can talk to local experts including Solihull Council, housing providers, Age UK Solihull, and Carers Trust Solihull.

Councillor Tony Dicicco, cabinet member for Adult Social Care and Health, explains why the Council has organised these events.  “Everyone needs to plan and prepare for later life, no matter what our circumstances are now.  But it’s a topic many of us ignore as we get older.”

He continues: “These events are about helping people prevent difficult situations and decisions, or at the very least, be ready for them.  I’d strongly encourage you to drop in during the day and find out what could help your own situation or how you could help your parents or older family members.  Learn how to make your home more accessible, about different kinds of accommodation or what to do if you, or a loved one, needs care in the future.”

The events take place on:

Tuesday 26 September, 10.00am to 4.00pm, Oliver Bird Hall, Church Hill Road, Solihull B91 3RQ

Thursday 28 September, 10.00am to 4.00pm, Three Trees Community Centre, Hedingham Grove, Chelmsley Wood, B37 7TP
