Solihull Council is reviewing its social housing tenancy policy and strategy. Anyone with an interest in social housing, particularly social housing tenants and registered housing providers, is invited to take part in a six-week consultation on the Council’s tenancy policy and strategy for the next five years.
Key changes that are proposed include doubling the length of fixed-term tenancies on larger properties from five to ten years in order to give families greater security and stability.
Solihull Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Cllr Mark Parker, said: “Over the summer we consulted with residents on how we should allocate social housing in a fair and clear way. As part of our review of social housing we now want to consult with residents about the type of tenancy agreements we offer and in what circumstances.
“The Council’s housing team has drafted both a new tenancy policy and a new tenancy strategy which proposes changes that would give greater security to our tenants whilst ensuring we make best use of our larger family homes which are in high demand.
“We are running a six-week consultation about both the policy and strategy and would like to hear from a wide range of people, but particularly our social housing tenants and local registered providers. Please spare 10 minutes to take part in the consultation.”
The six-week survey starts today – Friday 25 October – and finishes on Thursday 5 December. You can view the new draft policy and strategy and have your say here - https://yourvoicesolihull.uk.engagementhq.com/tenancy-policy-and-strategy-consultation
