Cllr Meeson said: “I want to thank everyone who has contributed to helping people during the difficult time we have all been through with COVID.
“So many people, in so many ways, have helped to support each other.”
He praised the community champions - people from all walks of life - who have come together to support those struggling on their own.
And he said people had started doing things they had never done before in their lives, such as fundraising for the NHS and delivering food parcels.
Cllr Meeson said: “Our own council staff have been doing jobs they never thought they would be doing when they signed up and there has been some terrific work done in the schools.
“There are far too many people to mention as individuals - this is a general thank you for all those voluntary efforts to support others.
“I know that, for some, volunteering has been a new experience - but an experience they have found rewarding and I hope they will continue.”
