Solihull Council, local business leaders and community groups have combined forces to develop a new campaign to promote all that Shirley town centre has to offer – from its diverse range of dining options, to unique coffee shops and independent retailers.
A new promotional video and website highlights the appeal of Shirley whether you’re out and about with young children, in need of pampering or retail therapy, or looking for a cocktail after hours.
As many high streets face the challenge of recovering from the Covid pandemic, Shirley has maintained its footfall and remains a thriving town centre, thanks to its mix of services, unique retailers and growing food and beverage offering.
The Shirley ‘Ambassadors’, with support from Solihull Council, are leading a variety of projects to support and promote the area. These range from improvements to public realm, to introducing new events and markets to the area which will add to its vibrancy and encourage more visitors from outside the area to experience all that Shirley has to offer.
Deputy Leader and Member for Shirley East, Cllr Karen Grinsell, said:
“We have been working with local businesses and community groups to develop a new economic plan for Shirley, recognising that as a town it has many strengths and a great base to build from. We are excited to promote the opportunities within Shirley – whether it’s to shop, get together for a celebration meal or visit the local park. We are working on a series of projects and events to really put Shirley on the map – more information can be found on our new ‘Visit Shirley’ web pages.”
