Pool covers have recently been installed at Solihull’s leisure centres, helping improve the energy efficiency of the swimming pools.
The covers are now in place at Tudor Grange Leisure Centre and North Solihull Sports Centre, and are used to cover the swimming pools when not in use.
Pool covers help to save energy by reducing the amount of heat escaping from the pool.
Councillor Tony Dicicco, Solihull Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health, said: “It’s fantastic news that both of the leisure centres in Solihull now have pool covers.
“The covers will help with the leisure centres’ energy footprint and energy costs,
“More work is also planned to further improve the energy footprint at both leisure centres, helping our net zero commitments as a Council.”
Wayne Desmond, Everyone Active’s contract manager, said: “Here at Everyone Active, we’re dedicated to reducing the carbon footprint of our leisure facilities.
“That’s why we’re delighted to have these pool covers installed, helping to support our environment and improve energy efficiency.”
The installation of the pool covers was funded via the Sport England’s Swimming Pool Support Fund. Facilities across the country, including the Everyone Active leisure centres in Solihull, received funding to improve their energy efficiency.
