Solihull Council is improving nine routes in the borough to strengthen links between open spaces, encourage wildlife to flourish and help people to walk, cycle and connect with nature across the borough.
In response to the national lockdown and the increase in cases of Covid-19 in Solihull, Solihull Council is reducing the maximum number of mourners in its chapels to 20 from Monday 11 January.
Another lockdown, but infection numbers are skyrocketing.
Cllr Courts, alongside other WM council leaders, is calling on supermarkets and all businesses that continue to remain open during this national lockdown to step-up their Covid-19 safety measures to help combat the rising surge of infections.
All Solihull libraries will close on Wednesday 6 January 2021. This is to support the national lockdown and safeguard residents and staff alike. The decision will be reviewed at the end of January.
The very rapid increase in our local COVID rates shows clearly why a new national lockdown – although very hard – is necessary.
In the last week (18 – 24 December) there were 554 new cases of COVID-19 in Solihull, a rate of 256 per 100,000 people, an increase of 26.7% compared with the previous week. The average area in England had a rate of 267.
After such a trying year for everyone, I just hope the Christmas break brought some well-deserved respite. Although we were not able to celebrate in the way we would usually like to, I do hope you were able to stay in touch with friends...
