Solihull Connect Walk-in-Centres in Chelmsley Wood and The Core will reopen on Monday 17 May in line with Monday’s roadmap announcement by the Government.
Both Walk-in-Centres have been closed during lockdown but will reopen Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 4pm (Wednesday 10am – 4pm).
On arrival, customers will be greeted by an advisor who will discuss the nature of their enquiry and support them to access the service they need using the online and self-service payment kiosks, computers and telephones.
The aim is to make sure that help is given to those who need it most, while also ensuring that the centres comply with social distancing and rigorous cleaning between customer use.
Customer Contact Manager for Solihull Connect and Solihull Register Office, Sharon Bryan, explained:
“During lockdown we’ve all been through quite a sharp learning curve with online orders and video meetings. Most of us know people in our families who are now far more comfortable and well-practiced with the internet than they were a year ago.
“It is the same for many of our regular customers who are now much more independent when it comes to making online payments and requesting council services online. Given that collective learning we’ve experienced it would be a pity to return to the old service.
“We will therefore be discussing people’s needs with them on arrival, so we can identify the best way to support them. Advisors can then focus their time and attention on people who have specific enquiries or need a bit more help.”
Customers should wear a face covering, unless exempt, follow directions and use the hand sanitiser provided. There will be a limit on the number of people allowed in each centre to make sure there is enough space for social distancing.
