Solihull Council has relaunched its Here2Help campaign to help residents know where to go to get extra help this winter.
A collaboration between the Council and a number of national and local organisations, the campaign signposts people to a range of support on the Council’s online Here2Help pages. First developed during the pandemic, the pages have a wealth of information including advice on energy and fuel, money, food and essentials and a range of services to keep people physically and mentally well.
Solihull Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Councillor Wazma Qais, said:
“We know that winter can be a challenging time of year, especially with the inevitable financial pressures it brings.
“This is why we have joined forces with partners so that we can offer all the support available in one easy place. Our recently revamped Here2Help pages have lots of information, advice and support so please do take a look at them and share with friends and family.
“Key information is also available in a new booklet, which is being distributed across Solihull, and will be available for people to pick up at libraries and GP surgeries.
“People can also contact our Community Advice Hubs and Solihull Connect for further help and support. So please don’t struggle this winter, we are here to help.”
The Council’s Community Advice Hubs can be contacted on 0121 709 7590, Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm and Solihull Connect on 0121 704 8001, Monday to Friday.
People over state pension age (66 years or older) can apply for Pension Credit. It is worth on average £3,900 per year and unlocks additional support including winter fuel payment, housing benefit, help with council tax and NHS dental care.
The Winter Warmth Helpline and emergency help – supported by Solihull Council and provided by Age UK Solihull – provides support and advice to help people stay warm and well. Older people, those living with disabilities or long-term health conditions, carers and families with young children can call 0121 704 8080, 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Act on Energy is working with Solihull Council to provide households help with fuel bills, prepayment meters, debt and boiler repairs and replacements. For further information call the free Act on Energy advice line on 0800 988 2881, 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday, or email advice@actonenergy.org.uk
