Solihull residents and commuters are being invited to share their views on potential road safety improvements along the A41 corridor.
The Council was awarded £1.265m to deliver road safety improvements along the A41 corridor, between Olton Hollow and Solihull Bypass, as part of the Department for Transport (DfT) Safer Roads Fund.
The DfT analysed data over a 10-year period and found that the A41 corridor needed safety improvements to be brought forward.
Further analysis and investigation identified four key themes, which any proposed improvements will aim to address. The themes are high vehicle speeds, a lack of crossing points (particularly crossing A41 Warwick Road and Seven Star Road), poor driver behaviour and roadside hazards (including obstructions on the pavement).
Alongside the improvements, funding has also been allocated for campaigns to improve driving behaviours and awareness.

There will also be two public drop-in sessions where the project team will be available in-person to answer any questions and capture feedback.
The first drop-in session will be held at Olton Library, on Thursday 7 November, 10am - 5pm. The second drop-in session will be held in The Spencer Hall at St Margaret's Church on Wednesday 13 November, 3pm - 7pm.
Solihull Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment & Infrastructure, Councillor Ken Hawkins, said:
“Road safety is paramount, so I am really pleased that we have been able to secure this funding to help make our roads safer.
“We have some suggestions about where and what kind of improvements could be made, but we really want to hear what residents, commuters and businesses think. After all, they are the ones who travel along this route, whether it be by car, public transport, bike, or on foot.
“We want to hear from everyone – this isn’t just about drivers – we want to make this route as safe as possible for all. I encourage anyone who uses this route to please take the time to look at the details of what could be done and share their views.”
All comments received as part of this consultation will be considered and will be used to help inform the final proposals to be taken forward.
The consultation will run for six weeks, until Monday 9 December 2024.
