Councillor Tony Dicicco, the Council’s new cabinet member for Adult Social Care and Health is encouraging all residents to continue to play their part in ‘kicking' the rising COVID cases out of play.
Today, Cllr Dicicco visited the latest COVID-19 Community Testing Hub in Chelmsley Wood to see for himself how easy it is to get a COVID test.
Residents can simply turn up to take a rapid COVID test or take a supply of tests to do at home.
This like its counterpart in Solihull town centre has been created as a quick and convenient way for residents to access regular tests in order to make it a routine part of everyday life.
For all the latest testing information including hub opening times please visit the Council website.
Councillor Dicicco explained:
“We’ve been able to enjoy more freedoms, but it’s critical we keep doing all the right things to slow down the increase of COVID cases across the borough with the new Delta variant which is easier to catch.
“We’re all looking forward to a summer of activity including watching EURO 2020, which starts today and like everyone else I am keen to enjoy this with friends and family.
“Remember not everyone is vaccinated or has had both doses and that even those that have been vaccinated may still be able to transmit the virus. So, we must all continue to get tested for COVID at least twice a week and also stick with hands, face and space. There are many ways you can get a test including from our Community hubs which are working really well and getting through tests quickly.
“We will be sending our COVID-19 Community Mobile Testing Unit around the borough before England matches to let people get tested before meeting in a beer garden or pub (or going somewhere else in order to escape the EURO mania) - so look out for it and get a test.
“Keep your eye on the ball and give COVID the red card in Solihull this summer!”
