Solihull Family Hubs officially open

Released:

The Family Hubs programme is now officially open, following a launch event at Elmwood Family Hub.

Elmwood, Evergreen and Riverside Family Hubs have all opened in recent weeks, and are already helping children, young people and families across Solihull. The Evergreen Hub (which is run in partnership with the Colebridge Trust and first opened in autumn 2023) reopened, with Elmwood and Riverside opening their doors for the first time.

The Mayor of Solihull, Cllr Shahin Ashraf MBE, and the Deputy Leader of Solihull Council, Cllr Karen Grinsell, both spoke at the event. Attendees also went on guided tours of the Hub, seeing first-hand a range of sessions.

The Mayor of Solihull said: “I was delighted to declare our three Family Hubs officially open. It was great to see first-hand the range of services that are available at the Hubs, helping to make sure the right support is available at the right time.

“Bringing all the services under one roof means the Family Hubs will be able to act as a one-stop-shop for local families, with the refurbishment work really helping to modernise the Hubs and make them as welcoming as possible.”

Cllr Grinsell added: “It’s fantastic news for our residents that the Family Hubs are now open. I’m sure that the Hubs, along with wider outreach support, will make a real difference for children and families across the borough.

“We know the evidence showing how critical the first 1,001 days of life are for a child’s future, so the hubs will be available for people all the way from before pregnancy through to adulthood.

“We’re committed as a Council to helping Solihull’s children and young people have the best start in life and supporting them to reach their full potential.”

Each Hub will provide a wide range of sessions for children and families, including health appointments, youth clubs, parent and child sessions as well as help for people with special educational needs.

Later this year, a fourth Hub will open at Hatchford Brook, once more extensive refurbishment works are completed. As well as the four Hubs, outreach services will operate across Solihull. People attending the Hubs will also be able to book onto sessions and find out about the latest news and events through the Solihull Family Hubs app and webpages.

The Department for Education and the UK Shared Prosperity provided funding for the Hubs.
