Haven’t been fully vaccinated yet? Stuck for transport?
We are offering Solihull residents a taxi service to and from local NHS walk-in COVID-19 vaccination centres.
The NHS-funded taxi service is for people who can't easily get to a vaccination centre by walking, driving; or using public transport for their first, second or booster jab.
Advisors can help anyone who is struggling to book their vaccination appointment online. Once an appointment is booked at a vaccination centre in Birmingham or Solihull, the Jab Cab will be arranged to pick up, wait for, and then drop residents back home.
The service is being funded by the NHS to ensure all eligible residents can access a vaccination site and have the level of protection needed against COVID-19.
Ruth Tennant, Director of Public Health, said:
“The service has been set up to ensure that transport, lack of internet access and other factors including anxiety or mobility issues, are not barriers to people having their COVID-19 vaccinations.
“Vaccination is our best way of reducing serious illness and hospitalisation from COVID-19. It is so important that all eligible people come forward for the vaccination as soon as possible. This is particularly important with the emergence of new variants such as Omicron, where it is currently unclear how poorly it can make someone, if they have not had all three vaccinations.
“What we do know is that protection from the vaccine against severe disease decreases from around 12 weeks, after your second dose. This is why every adult is now being offered a booster, 12 week after their second dose. The latest research shows if you are boosted, then you have very high protection against being severely ill from COVID.
