The Coronation of King Charles III takes place on Saturday 6 May at Westminster Abbey. During the ceremony the King will be crowned alongside Camilla, the Queen Consort. Following the coronation there will be an extra bank holiday on Monday 8 May to allow people to "come together and celebrate".
Anyone planning a street party, or any other event on the public highway, needs to notify Solihull Council and, if applicable, apply for a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) to close a road. The deadline for submitting a road closure application for the Coronation of King Charles III is Friday 24 March 2023.
Solihull Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities and Leisure, Cllr Diane Howell, said: “We know that many of our residents will want to use the extra bank holiday on Monday 8 May to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III with a traditional street party. If this is something you would like to do, then please get your applications in as soon as possible. Please also take time to read through the information on our street parties page and make sure your party is not only a joyous occasion but a safe one.”
