World Homeless Day - Thursday 10 October

Released:

This Thursday (10 October 2024) is World Homeless Day and the council’s rough sleeper outreach team is holding a free drop-in session at Chelmsley Wood Library from 10am – 1pm.

Anyone who is homeless or at risk of homelessness can pop in for an informal chat with people from local homeless advice organisations and mental health services. It is also open for people who need advice for friends and family.

Solihull Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing, Cllr Mark Parker, said: “Mental health needs can be both a cause and a result of being homeless so I’m really pleased that we’re working with local mental health organisation Re-imagine for this year’s event. Getting help as soon as possible is vital so I hope people who need support will come along to Chelmsley Wood Library this Thursday to get the right help and advice.

“But it’s also never too late to help either. As always, I ask that people continue to contact StreetLink, the national reporting system, to report anyone who they think is sleeping rough. This information ensures that our outreach team can find the people that need our help the most. Let’s continue to work together to help homeless people.”
