Your future Solihull - Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade

Fairtrade changes the way trade works through better prices, decent working conditions and a fairer deal for farmers and workers in developing countries.

The ongoing climate crisis remains the biggest threat to the livelihoods of millions of small-scale farmers and agricultural workers in low-income countries worldwide, with Fairtrade helping them to adapt, mitigate and become more resilient to extreme weather and its impact on crops.

We can help by considering the ethical and environment impact of our shopping choices and buying products with the Fairtrade Mark. There are almost 5,000 Fairtrade products, from coffee and tea to flowers and gold.

Solihull is a proud supporter of Fairtrade and has held Fairtrade Communities status since 2010. The Council also supports Fairtrade Fortnight – a national event which takes place in September every year to promote awareness about Fairtrade and shine a light on the overseas communities on the front line of the climate crisis.

Each year, fun-filled activities take place in the borough, including the Solihull Fairtrade Trail, featuring fantastic sculptures and artwork from local schools. Find out more about Fairtrade in Solihull or read about the Solihull Fairtrade Trail in 2024.
