Solihull Community Housing
Set up in 2004, Solihull Community Housing (SCH) run the housing service on behalf of the Council. SCH are fully committed to environmental sustainability and also have the ambitious target of becoming net zero by 2030.
Significant strides have been taken to make the housing stock more energy efficient. This includes overseeing the exemplar development on Faulkner Road, which saw new properties fitted with air-source heat pumps to provide renewable low emission heating.
SCH will also manage an exciting development in Kingshurst, which has seen 25 net zero carbon regulated homes built in the village centre. The scheme prioritises energy-efficient materials such as timber frames with a high air tightness score and low U-value windows for maximum thermal efficiency.
Going forwards, SCH plan to explore the potential benefits of using new building materials and construction techniques to further enhance their sustainability offer.
