UK Parliamentary General Election - Thursday 4 July 2024

On Thursday 4 July 2024 there will be a UK Parliamentary General Election. Solihull is divided into three Parliamentary Constituencies:

  • Solihull West and Shirley
  • Meriden and Solihull East
  • Birmingham Hodge Hill and Solihull North

The deadline to register in time for this election is Tuesday 18 June 2024.

This election will be held on new parliamentary boundaries. The table below shows which electoral ward sits in which constituency:

The deadline to vote by post or proxy for the General Election on 4 July has now passed. 

If you are unexpectedly unable to visit your polling station on 4 July, then you may apply for an emergency proxy vote if any of the following apply:

  • you cannot vote in person because of a medical emergency or disability
  • you cannot vote in person because of your employment
  • the photo ID you were planning on using to vote has been lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed
  • you’ve not yet received a new or replacement photo ID you’ve ordered

You can apply until 5.00pm on the day of the election. Fill in a paper form to:

If you are applying for an emergency proxy vote because of a medical emergency, disability or your employment, your application form must be signed by an ‘appropriate person’ (for example your employer or a doctor).

To vote by emergency proxy on 4 July 2024, the deadline for applications is 5.00pm on Thursday 4 July. Forms can either be scanned and emailed to electoralservices@solihull.gov.uk or sent in the post to:

Applications received after 5.00pm will not be processed in time for this election.

For existing postal voters and if you applied before Friday 31 May, your postal vote will be despatched around Friday 21 June 2024, by first class post.

If you applied for a postal vote after Friday 31 May, then your postal vote will be despatched around Wednesday 26 June 2024, by first class post.

If you wish to cancel your postal vote and apply to vote by proxy instead, then you must do so before 5.00pm on Wednesday 19 June 2024. You can apply for a proxy vote online by going to www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote
