We are inviting people who care for a family member or friend in Solihull to join a workshop on Friday 22 November and help the Council to redesign support services for unpaid carers.
Councillor Tony Dicicco, cabinet member for Adult Social Care and Health, explains more about the workshop. “We’ve recently set up a carers’ forum to help us improve support for carers in the borough. At the first meeting carers told us they want to come together in person and share their views and experiences with council officers. This workshop is the opportunity to do just that.”
He continues: “Please join us if you can. We’re keen to hear from as many carers as possible, whether you’re a young carer or working age, parent carer or older person caring for your husband, wife, partner or relative.”
“The latest census tells us there are about 20,000 people in Solihull with caring responsibilities but we’re confident that’s an underestimate. If you’re not an unpaid carer, you’re likely to know someone who is. Please help us to spread the word and encourage the carers you know to get involved.”
The workshop takes place at the Civic Suite on Friday 22 November from 10am to 1pm. Topics include access to support services, helping carers to feel less isolated, and emergency support.
